The History of Our Church
The History of Jimtown Missionary Baptist Church

In 1907 Sam Jackson, Lewis Warfield, Allen Beatty Pat Rankins Henry Johnson along
with no more than twenty other  members from the Maddoxtown and Centerville Baptist
Churches organized the Jimtown Baptist Church under the Rev. Minor Young.  Four
converts were made a part of the  kingdom of God during its organization.

Services were held in the old Jimtown Schoolhouse on the 2nd and 4th Sunday each
month and every 5th Sunday reserving the 1st and 3rd Sundays for services at the
Duncan Chapel Methodist Church.

In March 1908 the property on 2231 Jimtown Lane was purchased.  A wood frame church
was built measuring 25'X25' using candles for lighting, a wood and coal burning stove
provided heat.  In 1999 the Lord blessed Jimtown to move into a new church across the
street at 2236 Jimtown Lane.

Jimtown Baptist Church has been pastored by the following ministers:  Rev. Minor young,
